Pioneer Expeditions offers genuine adventure
Go Travel News, Monday 31st July
Genuine adventure is hard to find these days, when internet cafes can be found in even the most remote tropical islands and the beaten track seems to get wider every year.
However, a new adventure holiday company aims to cater for really intrepid backpackers, offering expeditions and experiences never before offered, such as swimming in a volcanic lake.
Pioneer Expeditions Worldwide believes the conventional tourism industry is too cosy and offers "the opportunity to travel to the world's most spectacular, remote and extraordinary places with like-minded people and, best of all, a chance to achieve something unique".
About as far as you can get from sterile package holidays, Pioneer Exhibitions offers personalised itineraries for groups of up to eight people, with team members sometimes being allocated responsibility for aspects of the trip such as drinkable water.
The company's next trip is to Palawan in the Philippines from November 5th to 22nd. As well as taking in the island's flora and fauna, travellers will be able to go boating along the world's longest underground river, do a supported 2km lake swim, visit geothermal lakes and trek through pristine rainforest.
The price for the tour, which includes a lot of island hopping, is £2450.
