Oman Full Moon Trek |
|
The Full Moon desert expedition will be a unique
opportunity to trek with the local Bedu, experience a
traditional Omani way of life and enjoy the grandeur of the desert
environment.
Our expedition is led by a member
of the Al Wahibi tribe ; one of the true families of the desert. We
will travel in the traditional Bedu way, trekking through the desert on
camels, travelling by moonlight and setting up wild desert camps under the
stars.
On this short journey, in the haunting
light of the moon and in the mornings before it gets to hot, we will
discover the dreamlike quality of the desert at night and the pleasure of
travelling on the 'ships of the desert; in the day.
At the end of our trek we head to the
stunning coastline
between Al
Ashkarah and Ras al Haddon.

The Sharqiyah Sands |
The
expedition meets in Muscat, with time to explore one of the oldest cities
in the Middle East with its bustling souks and the Sultan’s palace.
The
desert trek starts after driving to Sharqiyah Sands when the group will
meet Amour from the Al Wahibi tribe; one of the true families of the
desert; he will be leading the trek and introducing us to the camels and
their way of life. At moon rise we mount up for a few hours trekking
then set up a wild desert camp under the stars.
|
|
With the
help and guidance of your tour leader there will be plenty of opportunity to
learn their way of life; seek out nature and wildlife such
as desert fox, scorpions, goats and birds of prey and learn how the Bedu
use the stars to guide them.
A
typical trekking day will start at 9am for breakfast and after breaking up
our camp, we will set off for approx 4 hours until 2pm. After
tending to the camels we put up shade and spend the afternoon out of the
heat of sun. As the moon begins to rise (around 7pm) we set off for
another 4 hour trek before making camp and settling down for the night.
